About Paul Peña
Paul Peña is a self-taught 3-D geometric artist and sculptor originally from the northwest region of the United States (Washington). He currently lives and works in Dallas, TX.
Paul primarily utilizes the trompe l’ oeil technique, but does not use the traditional, realistic imagery to create the illusions. Typically, he stays within the abstract geometric genre to create the three-dimensional presentations.
Paul completed his first artist-in-residency, sponsored by The Fairmont Dallas Hotel in 2014. He also completed his first solo exhibition, also sponsored by The Fairmont Dallas Hotel in the spring of 2014.
He participated in his first international group exhibit the Spring of 2015, in conjunction with LuminArte Gallery (Dallas, TX) and the Machon Hamayim Municipal Gallery (Tel Aviv, Israel).
Paul was a finalist in both Museum of Geometric & MADI Art’s 2015 & 2017 Biennial Show. His piece, Non-Idiocy, was added to the Museum of Geometric MADI’s permanent collection in 2017.
Other places where his current body-of-work has been shown include: New Orleans Art Center (New Orleans, LA); Bath House Cultural Center (Dallas, TX); The Gallery8680 (Frisco, TX); Frisco Art Center (Frisco, TX); Kettle Gallery (Dallas, TX); CINQ Gallery (Dallas, TX); Bishop Arts Theatre Center (Dallas, TX); Latino Cultural Center (Dallas, TX).
Paul was also was invited to participate as a first-time juror with Frisco Art Gallery’s 2015 group juried exhibition.
