About Maria Tate

In 2003 I came to The United States to work as an administrative officer to the Embassy of Ecuador. In 2006 I moved to Pflugerville. Since then, I learned to paint and to work with ceramics. I attended drawing, painting and ceramic courses at the Community College in Austin, and at Laguna Gloria School of Art ceramics, sculpture, metal working, and molding.

In my early teen years, I had the opportunity to attend an art school, since then I love all art expressions and it was my dream to become an art worker myself. I am a senior and I am an artist. I choose to work with clay because it is like to touch mother earth, the source of life, and I try to express what is in my blood, in my culture, the influences I had in life. I am certain that I have traces of all races, of all cultures, of all humanity throughout hundreds of thousands of years, even before Columbus. So, I open my mind and my arms to embrace all expressions of art.
