About Tara Bullington
Artist Tara Bullington was born in Littleville, Alabama before smartphones and social media were a thing. She received her BFA in Painting and Sculpture from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, then moved to the west coast. There, she hung out in the Los Angeles area for a few years and painted every day while working at some fun jobs.
Eventually, Bullington returned to the mid-south to earn her MFA from Memphis College of Art. After grad school, Tara lived and worked in Florence, Alabama as a studio art professor at both the University of North Alabama and Northwest Shoals Community College for over 15 years.
She has now landed in Austin, TX and works from her home studio while teaching online Art Appreciation and Art History.
Artist Statement
My work explores the dichotomy of life; the feminine and the masculine, the beautiful and the ugly, the suffering and the bliss … crude materials are used to create delicate objects which are derived from fragments of memories and dreams that I can’t quite remember … all of this from my past, my present and my future.
