Please read to the end.

In 1976, twenty-five sculptors from six different countries gathered in Liberty Hill, as part of the International Sculpture Symposium. TSOS founding member and first president, Mel Fowler organized that event. The sculptors worked for two months to create the monuments that now stand in the Liberty Hill Sculpture Park.

Each October, the Liberty Hill community gathers at the Sculpture Park to celebrate this history. This year they will have live sculpting demos in a variety of mediums: stone, wood, metal, glass, sand. Attendees can participate in hands-on art activities hosted by local businesses.

The 50th Anniversary Liberty Hill International Sculpture Festival will be held Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, at the Lions Foundation Park, 355 Main Street, Liberty Hill, Texas.

TSOS will present an independent Sculpture Village at the festival. The TSOS Sculpture Village includes a Live Studio for members to interact with the Liberty Hill Sculpture Festival attendees, visit with each other, and share ideas, while working on new or existing projects. It features an area where members demonstrate their sculptural practice, and a Sculpture Gallery for participants to show and sell their work.

The primary focus of the TSOS Sculpture Village will be demonstrations of sculptural practices, tools and knowledge of multiple sculpture types and mediums for the attendees of the festival. TSOS will pay a stipend of $100 for each of 6 to 12 selected demos. Proposed demonstrations should be for a minimum of 20 minutes or up to 45 minutes. This includes a requirement to work in the Live Studio for at least 1 hour after the demo to answer questions and interact with the public. Artists can sign up for multiple demonstrations and will receive a stipend for each one selected. Demo times begin at 9:30 am, with the last one at 2 pm.

The Sculpture Gallery is a 10′ x 10′ tent with tables for the display and sale of jury selected members’ sculptures. Sculptures need to sit on stands (artist provided) or on the tables since pedestals can be precarious. Priority for display will be given to those selected to demonstrate, participate in the live studio, or volunteer to help with the event. Since there will be limited space in the gallery, it’s a good idea to sign up to give a demonstration or volunteer to help!

There is no fee to apply. Participation will be limited to current members of TSOS as of the time of their submission and membership must also be current on the date of the festival. When you answer the call, be prepared to describe what you will demonstrate or whether you can volunteer to help in another way.
